About the Role
The Product Integration department at GTC is a dynamic team of approximately 20 experts leading the design and development of future product solutions for commercial engines. We are now looking for an experienced Design Engineer to help us in the task of reaching the goal of sustainable aeroengines. As a design engineer, you will lead the concept generation and the design of engine/demonstrator/test rig components and be responsible for ensuring that they meet both the technical and technology requirements.

Job Responsibilities
• Contribute to different phases of development of product technology with your skills and expertise in design and definition.
• Responsible of the design of components for engine demonstrators, balancing the input from different disciplines (such as aerodynamics, solid mechanics and manufacturing) into a design that meets or exceeds the requirements and/or technology targets.
• Identify technology gaps and new possibilities for technology development.
• Create and update design data in Siemens PLM (TeamCenter) and CAD software NX including, product drawings, CAD models, geometrical interfaces.
• Ensure proper documentation of technical results and present the results internally and externally.
• Develop methods for design automation and design optimization.
• Contribute to the development of GKN as a 'Great Place to Work', aligned with the core principles: safe, innovative, open & honest, care & respect, and ownership
Job Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years of working experience in aerospace industry as a design engineer.
• Knowledge and experience in NX and PLM tool TeamCenter.
• Experience of product support work, product development and/or technology development is an advantage.
• Experience performing design studies and design changes, creating geometrical interface documentation, creating and updating requirements justification and performing tolerance stack-ups among others.
• Knowledge and experience of GD&T (ASME y14.5 and ISO).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated programming skills in Python. Experience in NX Open is advantageous.
• Proficient in English. Swedish is considered advantageous.

You are creative and show the ability to think outside the box and develop innovative design solutions. You also have a technical aptitude with a deep understanding of technical principles and can easily understand the functionality and mechanics of machines/systems. You are driven by curiosity with a strong desire to understand the various technical areas that contribute to design. You communicate clearly convey design ideas and have the ability to formulate the right questions to gain deeper insight.
You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams and have a strong ability to collaborate and build networks.

We are looking for an associate research engineer in the area of aerodynamics and aeroacoustics to help us develop the new technologies and solutions needed for the next generation of aero engines. • Aerodynamic and aeroacoustic analysis & design of aero engine components.
• Development of new technology/solutions aiming to reduce the environmental impact of flight.

Person Specification
You are an engineer with good understanding (and have a strong interest for the discipline) of aircraft engines: gas turbines, turbomachinery, thermodynamics, programming, fluid mechanics and compressible flow. You have recently graduated from a university and you have a strong interest in working in aerospace. You are a team player and problem solver who feels energized when facing technical challenges.
Job Qualifications
• PhD degree in Aeronautics, Fluid Mechanics or similar
• Solid background in fluid mechanics and compressible flow
• Solid experience in transient flow and aeroacoustics, e.g. turbomachinery noise, wave propagation, resonance, noise suppression technologies
• Good programming & scripting skills. For calculations, tasks automation, data processing and visualization
• Good understanding of jet engines
• Good general engineering/technology knowledge base
• Detail oriented and self-motivated
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Language skills in Swedish are preferred.
Desirable
• Knowledge/experience from commercial tools such as CFX, Fluent, StarCCM+, ICEM-Hexa and Ansa

About us
The Manufacturing and Materials business is looking for a dedicated Materials Engineer to work with us at our Global Technology Center (GTC).
We develop materials for new technology applications and design concepts. Often in national and EU-funded research programs together with our customers. Our mission is to support GKN's growth by developing and implementing competitive technologies. The work within GTC includes, among other things, the development of additive manufacturing, advanced materials, engine systems, products, digitization, manufacturing and inspection methods. We work in project form, often in collaboration with industrial and academic partners as well as with our customers. GTC develops solutions to support all business areas, Original Equipment manufacturing, space/military, civil repairs and material solutions through additive manufacturing.

About the role
You are responsible for the technology maturation and the optimization of the materials properties. Therefore, you are working with the development of heat treatments, materials selection, you coordinate test programs for materials properties testing (physical properties, strength, fatigue, creep etc.) in close collaboration with our mechanical test lab and/or external test providers. You analyze test results and document material data used for lifetime calculations and manufacturing simulation. Together with your colleagues, you develop test methods, methods for analyzing material data and our internal material database. You interact in a cross-functional team and support the manufacturing process maturation through material characterization with destructive and non-destructive testing as well as advanced characterization methods.

Högskolan Väst söker forskningsingenjör inom automation och robotik!
Arbetsuppgifter
Arbetsuppgifterna består huvudsakligen av deltagande i forskning och undervisning inom området automation och robotik.

Arbetet inom forskningsverksamheten består huvudsakligen av att självständigt utföra experiment som stöd till forskare och doktorander. Vad gäller undervisning består arbetsuppgifterna framför allt av deltagande vid klassrumsundervisning, uppdragsutbildning, laborationer och studenthandledning på kandidat- och mastersnivå. Du förväntas också bidra vid utveckling av kursmoment kring exempelvis laborationer för både fysisk och distansundervisning inom ramen för avdelningens undervisningsområde. 

Exempel på vanligt förekommande arbetsuppgifter är:

- Deltagande vid forskningsprojektmöten.  
- Planering av experiment.
- Framtagning och design av hårdvara och mjukvara för experiment?.
- Dokumentation av genomförda experiment. 
- Upphandling av utrustning för experiment.
- Simulering av robotsystem och automationssystem.

Dessutom omfattar anställningen medverkan i högskolans förändringsarbete, utveckling av högskolans verksamhet, kontakter med det omgivande samhället och administrativa arbetsuppgifter. Arbetet kommer till största del utföras på Produktionstekniskt Centrum.

Kvalifikationer 

- Masterexamen (120 hp på avancerad nivå) inom robotik och automation eller motsvarande. 
- Flerårig erfarenhet av arbete med robot- och automationsutrustning.
- Kunskap om robotsimulering och automationssystem. 
- Kunskap och erfarenhet av flexibel automation, så som erfarenhet av hantering av AGV:er och samverkande robotar.
- Erfarenhet av undervisningsaktiviteter inom högre utbildning.
- Flytande svenska och engelska i såväl tal som skrift.
- Mycket god förmåga att självständigt planera och utföra kvalificerade arbetsuppgifter.
- Mycket god samarbetsförmåga.

Särskilt meriterande 

- Erfarenhet av arbete med RobotStudio och Siemens NX. 
- Erfarenhet av utveckling och implementering av lösningar med ABB-robotar och MIR inom tillverkningsindustrin. 
- Erfarenhet av arbete med produktutveckling med inriktning robotik och automation.  
- Erfarenhet av studenthandledning inom högre utbildning.
