The project requests at AFRY Automotive in Trollhättan are increasing. We are searching for more driven Design Engineers that can strengthen our team and that wants to be part of the development of future vehicles.

Describe your role and what you are working with at AFRY in Trollhättan.
I am working as a Design Engineer at AFRY and I am currently working in a project for a truck manufacturer in Sweden with parts that is on the inside of the truck cabin.
I work with styling related parts, which means that they are visible and therefor needs to be designed by a design team. My responsibility is to create solid 3D-models from the styling surfaces that we get from the design team and make sure that they are producible, can be assembled with all the surrounding parts and that their function and quality are fulfilling the customers expectation and needs. I work close with people from my own team but also other departments such as the purchase team to find suitable suppliers and the calculation team that analyses the parts to make sure that they have the right function ability.
How is it to work as a Design Engineer?
I think it is fun and developing working as a Design Engineer. There is a variety when it comes to work assignments and I really enjoy working in teams since we all have different experiences and backgrounds and can share knowledge and learn from each other.
What background do I need to work as a Design Engineer?
I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University and I think it is good to have a similar background for this role. I started working as a Design Engineer at AFRY directly after graduation so I know that experience will come with time and I encourage newly graduates to apply at AFRY in Trollhättan.
What do you like about working at AFRY in Trollhättan?
Trollhättan is a nice place to work and live in and AFRY is a good company where there are many opportunities to develop and get experiences from different areas. I also think that the colleagues are very nice to work with and we have an inclusive and warm work environment.


Qualifications
You have an academic degree (or similar) within mechanical engineering and/or design. As a person you are curious, driven and has an interest in solving problems. You like to have a variety when it comes to work assignments and challenges in different environments, as our projects change with time. You continuously work with developing yourself, both professionally and as a person. You have good knowledge in Swedish and/or English.

Just nu söker vi efter flera olika profiler att anställa till våra olika områden inom Automotive. Vad gör en design engineer inom sektionen Body, Interior & Exterior?
Inom sektionen kan du som design engineer jobba med en bred variation av projekt där fokus ligger inom Automotive-industrin. Det innebär att du blir en del av bilens utveckling och får vara med att konstruera framtidens fordon. Det här är en position där du får vara kreativ, utnyttja din förmåga att hitta egna lösningar och jobba på ett arbetssätt som passar dig. Du arbetar ofta nära kunden och har chansen att knyta nya kontakter samt bredda din kompetens vilket ger dig stora utvecklingsmöjligheter.
Hur är det att jobba som konsult på er sektion?
Som konsult inom vår sektion har du möjlighet att arbeta i projekt in-house eller sitta på uppdrag hos kund. Vi jobbar ofta i team vilket gör att det alltid finns personer att bolla idéer med och få stöttning från. Vi är en sektion som lär från varandra och där utbyte av kunskap och erfarenhet är en självklarhet. Gruppen i sig består av en härlig mix människor med blandade personligheter, kön, etnicitet och åldrar och där alla har stor respekt för varandra. Sektionen har en fin gemenskap och väldigt roligt tillsammans vilket skapar ett tryggt och bra arbetsklimat.
Hur ofta träffar du konsulterna på er sektion?
Hur ofta vi träffar våra kollegor varierar mycket från konsult till konsult och beror mycket på hur arbetssituationen ser ut. Inom sektionen träffas vi på fika varje vecka på kontoret för de som kan och vill samt att vi har lunchmöte tillsammans en gång i månaden. Vi är också duktiga på att hitta på aktiviteter utanför arbetstid för att stärka teamkänslan och lära känna varandra på ett mer avslappnat sätt. I tillägg till sektionens egna traditioner har kontoret medarbetarmöte med tillhörande aktivitet en gång i kvartalet där vi får chansen att umgås, samt en årlig julfest och sommarfest.

Vilka grundkunskaper behöver jag ha med mig för att bli en duktig design engineer?
Jag tror att en vilja att lära sig och ett stort driv räcker långt för att bli en duktig design engineer. Jag menar att om du är en människa som tycker det är roligt och spännande med konstruktion så har du möjlighet att prestera oavsett vad du har för erfarenheter sedan tidigare. I tillägg till det anser jag att du bör ha minst högskoleutbildning inom maskin eller annat relevant område, erfarenhet av CAD-verktyg så som Catia, NX eller motsvarande samt att du behärskar svenska och/eller engelska. Du bör också ha arbetat som konstruktör i två år med fördel inom fordonsbranschen.

Description

In this role you will be working highly cross-functional and act as a hub between Mobility Solutions department, the engineering teams and our future customers and users within the field of PONS Autonomous Mobility Ecosystem*.

Your responsibility will be to support and improve our user centric development process and create a seamless omni channel User experience (UX) of the PONS service by aligning all the touchpoints our service will have with the user throughout the Customer Journey. A central aspect of this responsibility will be to lead and coordinate user tests, both the overall service as well as specific sub-systems, to optimize the user experience of our development and feed the improved understanding of our future customers into our products. Your interpersonal skills along with your ability to explain and convey a message to a wider audience will be highly valued.

  *Pons Autonomous Mobility Ecosystem = A self-driving vehicle fleet operating within a city, being smart and proactive with the aim to offer excellent, on-demand, sustainable mobility services to its citizens.   The role involves:

- Being the voice of the user in product development.
- Responsible for user tests throughout product development.
- Contribute to the team responsible for defining HMI and UI prerequisites and requirements. That includes defining HMI and UI on both vehicle, app and fleet management.
- Responsible for keeping the direction and overall purpose and scope of the generic content of the PONS Mobility Ecosystem, as it transforms into implementation and customized versions.

    

 We are looking for someone who has:

- Several years’ experience in a similar or equivalent role within an international technology/innovation intensive environment
