Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior CAD Design Engineer to join our automotive R&D team.

The ideal candidate will assist in the design and development of innovative automotive components and systems using CATIA.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team at the forefront of automotive innovation, contributing to the development of cutting-edge vehicles and technologies.

Tasks
CAD Design and Modeling:

- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of automotive components, systems, and assemblies using industry-standard CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Ensure all designs adhere to engineering standards and project specifications.
- Support the development and iteration of prototypes through accurate CAD models.

Collaboration and Support:

- Collaborate closely with senior engineers, product developers, and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, design reports, and presentation materials.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts.

Prototyping and Testing Support:

- Assist in the coordination of prototype manufacturing, testing, and validation.
- Support the analysis of test data and contribute to design modifications based on test outcomes.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Native/business level Italian speaking & writing skills is mandatory for this position.
- 0-2 years of experience in CAD design, preferably in the automotive or a related field (internships or co-op experience acceptable).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Basic knowledge of automotive systems and components.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials (preferred but not required).
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Associate Research Engineer GTC – Solid Mechanics
We are looking for an Associate Research Engineer in the area of Solid Mechanics to be part of the development of the engine structures and new technologies required by the next generation of jet engines.
You will become a key player in the design of these components by giving input during the design development and assessing feasibility and requirement compliance of the design in the field of solid mechanics. You will also help us meet the challenge of an increase share of additive manufacturing in our products. In addition, you will contribute to improve our analysis methods and tools.


Candidate profile
You are a mechanical engineer with good understanding (and burn for the discipline) of solid mechanics: structural analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics, dynamic analysis of structures. You have recently graduated from university and you have a strong interest in working in aerospace. You are a problem solver who feels energized when facing technical challenges.


Key responsibilities
Work in multidisciplinary teams engaged in the design and development of engine structures and new technologies.
Support concept generation and selection.
Dimensioning and verification of engine components through FE analysis (strength, fatigue, fracture mechanics, dynamic analysis) using both commercial and in-house developed tools
Develop analysis methods.
Assure proper documentation of technical results and present the results internally and externally.
Contribute to the development of GKN as a 'Great Place to Work', aligned with the core principles - safe, innovative, open & honest, care & respect, and ownership.



Qualifications / Skills / Experience
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering field. Specialization in Solid Mechanics is desirable.
Experience in strength and fatigue FEM analysis is meritorious.
Knowledge of FEA commercial tools, preferably ANSYS Mechanical (APDL), ANSYS Workbench, LS-Dyna is meritorious
Programming skills. Knowledge of Python and Matlab is advantageous
Previous working experience in industry is advantageous

Simulation Engineer E-drive/Transmission

* Analysis & simulation engineering within CFD and FEA in different types of transmission/E-axle/drivetrain projects (EV, AMT, AT, DCT, CVT, MT, etc.), both light and heavy-duty vehicles
* Develop new and improve existing methods and guidelines and stay up to date with most recent technology findings within the field of drivetrains and electrification.
* Problem solving on existing products with detailed root cause analysis.
* As CFD engineer, you will perform lubrication, cooling and efficiency/power loss analyses on E-axles and transmissions. 
* As FEA engineer, you will perform strength and fatigue analyses on sub-systems/components in E-axles/Electric Drive Units. Also performing load and durability analysis with transmission system model simulation tool (MASTA) and analytical machine element calculations can be part of your assignments.
*  Working in international project teams, cooperation with different AVL departments worldwide, in direct contact with our customers.

* MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
* 3-5 years of experience within CFD and/or FEA with good theoretical understanding and willingness to develop knowledge in the two fields (if not already existing).
* Excellent analytical capability
* Knowledge in commercially available simulation tools for CFD, FEA and transmission system model (for example STARCCM+, PREONLAB, AVL FIRE, Abaqus, FE-safe, FEMFAT, MSC Nastran, ANSA, MASTA/KissSYS/ROMAX,  MATLAB, etc.). 
* Knowledge in transmissions and/or E-motor calculations/simulations including machine elements (gears, bearings, lubricants, clutches, hydraulic systems). Experience from product development of transmissions and/or E-motors is an advantage.
* Experience/knowledge from working with thermal management of E-axles is a plus.

* Analysis & simulation engineering within CFD and FEA in different types of transmission/E-axle/drivetrain projects (EV, AMT, AT, DCT, CVT, MT, etc.), both light and heavy-duty vehicles
* Develop new and improve existing methods and guidelines and stay up to date with most recent technology findings within the field of drivetrains and electrification.
* Problem solving on existing products with detailed root cause analysis.
* As CFD engineer, you will perform lubrication, cooling and efficiency/power loss analyses on E-axles and transmissions.

Thesis Work - Park lock development tool Background

What 
The purpose of the thesis is to 
•    Extend the method with dynamic simulation in AMESim. 
•    Extend the generated output by implementing basic calculations in e.g. MATLAB, based on the available input data.
•    Continue the alignment and utilization of input and output data between different tools – one data source, tools sharing parametrization and system description. 
•    Adding systems of different topology to the tool.

With these features in place it is possible to perform comparative analyses of different system, assessing key characteristics, and to perform parameter sensitivity studies providing a deeper understanding of the system. Extending the tools enables comparison of results. Depending on the availability of hardware and existing test data it is also desired to perform validation of the method.

Beskrivning av uppdraget
Vi behöver nu förstärka vårt HIL-test team med en senior HIL testingenjör som vill vara med och vidareutveckla vårt hybrid styrsystem.

Det dagliga arbetet kommer i korthet att bestå av:- Funktionell testning av hybrid styrsystem i HIL på plats i Trollhättan.- Motorfunktioner (motor synkronisering, insprutning, tändning etc)- Hybridfunktioner (momentstyrning av elmotorer, kontaktorstyrning, energibalans, etc)- Diagnosfunktioner (kortslutningar, rationalitets diagnoser, off-board funktioner för verkstäderna)- Systemdegradering Du ingår i ett team av erfarna HIL-test ingenjörer och arbetar på plats i våra lokaler i Trollhättan. Teamet så väl som företaget i stort präglas av stark entreprenörs- och innovationskraft i kombination med hög specialiseringsgrad och expertis, vilket ger en unik möjlighet till utveckling inom sitt område.  Vem är du?
Du bör ha en högskoleutbildning inom relevant område samt ha ett genuint intresse för hybridsystem. Ett krav att du har erfarenhet av att bygga HIL-system, samt att du har erfarenhet av att modellera i MATLAB/Simulink. Om du dessutom har kunskap om dSPACE samt har erfarenhet av CANoe/CANalyzer ser vi det som mycket meriterande.

Description

You will be an integral part of the Chapter Attributes, one of three teams that exist within the Mobility Design Tribe.

Within Attribute Management, we are focusing on Product level (which will feed into System and Component levels); creation of robust technical requirements, awareness and comprehension of external factors, suitable benchmarking, and verification/validation methods.

The attribute owner of Crash Protection/Post Crash Protection, is setting the non-functional product requirements of the physical safety of occupants, as well as considering the products overall performance, during, and post-crash.

The role involves:

- Create Attribute Analysis (Input, Analysis, proposed Content) during Business Exploration
- Develop Attribute rating (1-10) to meet current and future market needs
- Benchmarking activities on Vehicle level
- Writing and balancing the Non-Functional Vehicle Requirements
- Allocation and agreement of Non-Functional Vehicle Requirements to System/Components
- Involvement in concept selections and design activities to understand design (hardware/electrical/software) considerations
- Initiate development of Verification/Validation methods on Vehicle Level, with focus on time and cost optimization (Road-Lab-Math).
- Involvement in the Attribute Verification (CAE, testing, etc.).
- Reporting the status of the Attribute during the project.
- Validate that Attribute performance targets meets Customer expectations (Product Profile).
- Keep NEVS Safety Strategy updated and aligned to product plan, market and legal requirements.

          

 We are looking for someone who has:

- University education (bachelor) in Engineering and/or Science
- Strong, yet not duration dependent, related experience in Vehicle Safety
- High ability in verbal, written, and graphical communication
- Fluency in English (both spoken and written)

Description

We need to strengthen our Closure team in the HW Tribe with a Design Leader Closure Systems, with the task to develop the technical solutions in a certain area. The role includes securing needed technology, processes, methods and plans to support NEVS long term strategies for Products and Services.

You will be part of the BIW and Closure Chapter, which is one of the 7 Chapters in the HW Tribe. Our aim is to develop BIW and Closure, Vehicle Motion, Exterior and Interior together with Mechanical Architecture and CEA solutions that support our vision to shape mobility for a more sustainable future including autonomous, driverless vehicles.

We are an agile organization, where trust, team work, knowledge sharing, collective intelligence and empowered self-organizing teams is a key to success. Thus, you need to be a good team player and continuously strive to make the team successful. 

   

The role involves:

- Be responsible design leader of Side Doors and other major closure systems such as Hood, Trunk, Windows and its sealing systems
- Benchmark and develop concepts of Closure Systems
- Create sections and interfaces on Closure systems.
- Make design proposals using innovative materials with appropriate joining methods targeting higher closure performance on both system and vehicle level. 
- Work together with CAE teams interpreting and using analysis results to guide and optimize system’s performance
- Work together with manufacturing to ensure closure system’s geometry and feasibility are fulfilled
- Propose and support tests to prove out design and function of closure systems

          

We are looking for someone who has:

- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of total work experience, with a minimum 3 years applying expertise in closure systems
- Experience in CAD modeling, preferably NX and Team Center
- Demonstrated skills in coaching, leading and inspiring others
- Good communication skills in English - both verbally and written.

The EE HW Engineering Chapter is one of five competence teams inside the Hardware Engineering Tribe. The overall responsibility of the Tribe is to secure NEVS present and future need for Hardware Competence & Technology, while building a great place to work. The responsibilities of the EE HW Engineering Chapter lies within the areas of Physical Electrical Architecture, EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems), Electronics & Electrical Energy Storage.

We work in a lean, agile organization where people with certain competences are either members of squads (smaller teams), and/or act in a supporting role to these squads. To be successful you need to have an open mind, be solution oriented, a team player and able to adapt to change.

 

Work Tasks

As an Electronics Engineer in antennas & connectivity systems, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining NEVS hardware in connectivity realm, and thus ensuring that NEVS products will meet the standards required by NEVS customers. The role includes writing overall requirements needed for the development of I: E antenna systems, modems, GNSS compliance for different markets and other connectivity electronics. The role includes actively following the development of connectivity systems within automotive industry. You will be monitoring NEVS internal test planning and review test results. This includes creating product integration planning that will meet overall project timelines. You will use your knowledge and new findings continuously to develop and refine NEVS connectivity platform. Good understanding of software development is desirable.

You will also:

- Support concept selection at vehicle architecture, system and component level.
- Develop antennas systems for automotive use.
- Develop together with other engineers the internal and external communication platforms. This includes antennas, antenna fusion, modems and communication strategies.
- Support problem Root-causing and Resolution from a connectivity perspective.
- Evaluate the feasibility of development plans, technical proposals and product offerings.
- Establish and maintain internal and external networks.

 

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree, (or equivalent experience) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Physics.
- Application knowledge of electronic design considerations in the automotive domain.
- Engineering experience from working in the connectivity field (design or testing), minimum 5 years.
- Experience from hands on Electronics design (PCB, Electronics circuit design, component design & selection) is desirable.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish and/or Mandarin Chinese desirable.

You will be a part of different squads that early in the project phase will work with requirement settings.

The role involves:

- Responsible for relevant target setting on complete product level in own area
- Develop test methods to secure target fulfillment
- Test leader during ongoing complete product tests in different test sites
- Analyze and report test result
- Working close together with others to develop and balance requirements.
- Lead and develop the Reliability / Durability area

We are looking for someone who has:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 2 years technical experience in reliability/quality discipline in a new product development environment with electro-mechanical devices
- Master's degree in Reliability Engineering or Quality
- Weibull Analysis Software Knowledge a plus. Reliasoft ++ desirable

Preferably also:

- Master's degree in Reliability Engineering or Quality
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) a plus.

The attribute area of Future Safety (within Safety), covers the full scope of safety, not limited to one particular aspect, as the trends of our industry are changing we need to remain ahead of the curve and start preparing as well as leading these changes. In this role, you will be expected to facilitate investigations into user/market needs, concept evaluations, improvements in verification methodology and more. As a Specialist, you will be required to take on autonomy in providing deliveries to existing/planned projects and work activities.

We are now looking for a Real-time controls Electronics Engineer!

 

The EE HW Engineering Chapter is one of five competence teams inside the Hardware Engineering Tribe. The overall responsibility of the Tribe is to secure NEVS present and future need for Hardware Competence & Technology, while building a great place to work. The responsibilities of the EE HW Engineering Chapter lies within the areas of Physical Electrical Architecture, EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems), Electronics & Electrical Energy Storage.

We work in a lean, agile organization where people with certain competences are either members of squads (smaller teams), and/or act in a supporting role to these squads. To be successful you need to have an open mind, be solution oriented, a team player and able to adapt to change.

 

Work Tasks

As a Real-time controls Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for development of ECU’s (Electronic Control Unit) within our electronics area, and thus ensuring that NEVS products will meet the standards required by NEVS customers. The role includes to actively following progress of automotive embedded systems globally.  As a Real-time control electronics engineer you will be responsible for creating solutions for Real-time hardware and controls. I: E Define and write requirements on ECU’s for these kinds of systems which could be breaking, steering, stability or similar control systems. You will use your knowledge and new findings continuously to develop and refine NEVS embedded controls & regulators ECU’s. You will both create the design solutions and cooperate with supplier's work.

You will also:

- Support concept selection at vehicle architecture, system and component level.
- Monitor NEVS internal test planning and review test results.
- Support the development and maintenance of validation and verification methodologies and procedures.
- Support problem Root-causing and Resolution from an controls logic perspective.
- Evaluate the feasibility of development plans, technical proposals and product offerings.
- Establish and maintain internal and external networks.

 

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor or equivalent Degree in Electronics/ mechatronics Engineering or Physics with software orientation.
- Application knowledge of electronic design considerations in the automotive domain.
- Engineering experience from working in the real-time ECU/Systems development in automotive for minimum 5 years.
- Experience from hands on Electronics design (PCB, Electronics circuit design, component design & selection) is desirable.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish and/or Mandarin Chinese desirable.

We are now looking for engineers to work with systems software engineering for the domains in the vehicles. Domains are the highest abstraction level below the complete vehicle. You will work in a cross-functional team with responsibility for the design of the domain and its interfaces to other domains. This also includes ensuring that appropriate requirements for the domain exists and that test methods are developed. We are looking for several engineers to cover the following domains; Body, Vehicle Management, Connectivity, Energy, Passenger Assistance.

We work in an agile organisation, where teamwork, empowered self-organising teams and quick learning cycles is a key to success. Thus, you need to be a good team player and continuously strive to make the team successful.

 

The role as a System Software Engineer involves:

- Participate in defining requirements on domain level
- Develop a mechatronic design for the domain and logical design solution for the application software
- Ensuring that the interfaces and design of the domain supports the vehicle level requirements
- Create design requirements for the more detailed abstraction layers
- Participate in functional safety and cyber security activities
- Support test method design

 

We are looking for someone who has:

- Deep competence of vehicle functionality and vehicle functional architecture
- Experience from software intense systems preferably in the automotive industry
- Experience from software design and modeling using SysML and UML
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written
- Knowledge of service-oriented design is a plus
